Happiness As A Fleeting State

‘The Truth Shall Set You Free’

So what is it that traps us in the first place. To set the scene to explain this, first of all we need to understand how the reality we experience is created.

All of life is created from an energy force. This provides the source, the power and the building blocks for everything that we see around us. This force then flows through our beliefs. It works like a kaleidoscope. What we see as we look out on our life is the life force shaped by our beliefs.

If what we see doesn’t look or feel good… it is because of our beliefs. Change the beliefs and we change what we see and feel.

lifeforce-experience

The things we see around us are just symbols of our feelings. They relate to a feeling. Our experience of life is really just a demonstration of what we believe. Wherever there is something you don’t enjoy… analyse your beliefs. Change them until you find something that works better for you.

There is no other higher purpose. Life just wants to expand itself. It can do that by increasing the amount that comes through you.

Equally as a part of life we want to grow. Through the Economic Mindset it seems that we are ambitious for more things and experiences. At the deeper levels though, what we really want is new experiences and evolution. And so through the filter of our belief’s we experience the desire for new clothes, things and events.

Our drive which comes through us in many ways. Through ambition, through our sex drive, through relationships, through artistry and so on is the urging of life to come into the world. Shaped through our unique perspective and beliefs.

We are driven to experience the flowing of life through us and into the world. We do this by creating something new.

This doesn’t mean we are all here to invent new things. It means we are here to express our message. For example, our message may be a new way of teaching children or it may be standing up and highlighting the plight of the starving. It doesn’t matter who you are… in some way, big or small, you are here to make a difference.

In order to achieve these deeper aims, we are guided through our feelings to the situations that enable us to tweak or change our beliefs. Each change of belief either reduces or expands the amount of life we let into us.

 Each choice either;

opens us up to life – and so increases our health and happiness.

Or

Closes us to life – and so reduces our health and happiness.

If we only look on the surface levels, we only see the objects that we want. They range from a new Partner, to a new car or a new dress or any other thing that you desire.

They in themselves are not the goal; they are but the means of moving you towards the goal. There is really no division between spiritual and physical pursuits. What is generally viewed as spiritual is the force underlying the desire for the physical.

One level is the level of thought or an idea. The other is a physical symbol for that idea. But you may if you wish to view it that way separate life into that which is spiritual and that which is physical. This is just an example of the way our beliefs determine what we see.

I know many people will misunderstand what I have just written so here is an example. Say you want a new coat.

Why do you want a new coat?

Because your old one is out of date or becoming worn.

So what do you really want?

To look presentable or even attractive.

Why do you want to look attractive or presentable?

So that people won’t think badly of me.

Why don’t you want people to think badly of you?

Because they might not want to talk to me or get to know me.

So the symbol of a new coat is really about the idea of getting along with people and expanding your experiences through social interaction. The goal is the same as the more ‘spiritual’ goal of living harmoniously with others, but it is disguised in a physical symbol.

Because we generally look on the surface layer with the Economic Mindset we become fixated on the thing we want. The symbols. Sometimes we cannot get that thing. And so we feel frustrated and angry as we bang our heads against the wall endlessly to get it.

If we looked from a broader perspective we would often look like a fly who keeps bashing up against a closed window, despite there being an open window just a few feet away.

The important thing is to remember that the thing is not essential, it is just the symbol for the desired feeling. We can find another way of reaching the same feelings and so change our beliefs.

However through the Economic Mindset we lose sight of the real meaning of our desires. We become fixated that we must get the object of our desire.

As we keep focusing on this thing… and yet can’t achieve it… the effect is like a car stuck in a muddy field. So the harder we try the more stuck we get. Eventually we have dug ourselves into a rut. If we keep spinning our wheels we reach a point where we become so depressed that we can no longer see any other option. Now we’re trapped – and powerless – just through our own thoughts.

Therefore it is helpful to recognise that any time you want something. It isn’t really the thing you want… that is just to move you towards the experience the deeper part of you craves.
